The shootings this week are a terrible blow to the mutual trust both sides need.

  1. Relationships between the police and communities are tentative at the best of times and trust is a major factor. It takes time to build up trust on all sides, but just one incident can break that trust in an instant.

    All sides need to be willing to come together to start the build up process and depending on how deep the mistrust is will have a major impact on the time to start this process, let alone to have and maintain trust.

    Even when this is occurring outside factors as the media and politicians can either help or hinder the process and unfortunately hinder is the more likely.

    But to be positive, to do nothing is not acceptable, what ever needs to be done as to be done immediately for the continued benefit for everyone. Now is not the time to make judgements, as the respect for law and order needs to be the priority for the safety of all.
