It was my belief that all NHS GPs were officially classed as being to some extent self employed in that they all charge for holiday vaccinations, certain letters, medical notes which are more than the normal Med(3),etc.
This comment was made by a member of our local CCG when I was enquiringly why they should insist that all GPs undertake to do LD Annual Health Checks.
My own surgery is within the NHS, but they do certainly charge for holiday vacs and others.
Patients could face paying their family doctors for out-of-hours appointments and minor procedures that fall outside the surgery’s contracted NHS work, under new plans being proposed by some GP leaders.
The scheme would see doctors use their own time to treat and charge patients and involve the setting up of a third-party company to manage the payments to GPs.
