Sir Stephen Moss: We must not repeat the mistakes of Mid Staffs | RCNi

  1. Sir Stephen Moss welcomes STPs and I believe so would I if the intention was to improve the NHS, however from what I see it is just another process to save money by restricting the service which should be available now.

Today, with regards to treatment of Sepsis, NICE have recommended that treatment should begin within 1 hour (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/10/treat-sepsis-patients-within-hour-watchdog-tells-nhs-staff/) when sepsis is suspected, however, in todays NHS where can you have treatment within 1 hour. It is impossible to obtain an urgent GP appointment, ambulances are in short supply due to demand, then when they arrive at hospital there is a lengthy wait to even get into A&E.

With the STPs hospitals close to many patients will have restricted facilities or be even closed, which will require even longer ambulance journeys, a 1 hour treatment will be even rarer to achieve.
