Another scandal at the door of the Government, as Huberts parents would have been invited to come to the UK to help the UKs recovery from WWII, when they came over and then later on brought their children over.
With hindsight offical documents relating to residency should have been created.
However, at the time Jamaica was a British colony and the people in Jamaica were therefore British subjects, so official documents were not required. With the subsequent granting of independence to Jamaica and various changes to UK Law, the status of Huberts parents and many others became clouded. At the time of these changes some official notifications should have been created, which would have stopped these scandals occurring.
But, if common sense had prevailed when these problems came to light, then the scandals would not have created so much suffering. But it appears common sense is saddly lacking in Government circles.
Immediately compensation for the suffering caused to every individual should be made and where death has occurred the compensation should be awarded to their Estate, especially where deportations have occurred. Every affected individual should be immediately granted UK residency, if not already done so.
