It is good to see that the Tories are promising some additional spending for Social Care, but £1 billion is, but, a ‘drop in the Ocean’ compared to all the funding reduced due the their austerity cuts.
As to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, saying: “Since this government has been in power we’ve allocated about £1.5bn towards addressing the social care issue both for adult and child social care and helping local councils with the huge pressures that they face.’, when all we have seen is the austerity cuts and again, if there has been £1.5 billion that would, in no way compensate for 10 years of cuts.
Especially when Social Care has never been sufficiently funded for over the 40 years I have been involved with it.
But the last 10 years have been the worst, especially with the atrocities being caused by the changes and problems created within the Benefit system.
Currently for many there is no Social Care to speak of and what there is, is sparse in quality, as CQC are not looking at actual care delivery. Just because an organisations records state good quality care is being delivered does not mean it is.
I am aware of many family carers who are scared to complain, because they have been told if they do they will lose the care already being delivered.
