Trump tweeted that anyone trying to damage any monument on federal property would face 10 years in prison.

  1. While I can not condone the acts of vandalism by the protesters, I can well understand their anger towards Andrew Jackson and the representing statue.

    As to Trump, yes, there is the ‘Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act’, https://www.congress.gov/108/plaws/publ29/PLAW-108publ29.pdf, but he is acting as Judge and Jury in his Tweet, for the 10 years in prison is only a possibility and not a statement of fact.

    If Trump had any will to defuse the situation he would be more contrite in his comments and tweets, but he feels the more violence there is the more likelihood he will be re-elected.

    Also he does not have the ability to show empathy and I feel he does not know the meaning of empathy as his manner is the complete opposite.

    He is not a President to bring American and Americans more closely together, but more the reverse, the further apart the better for Trump.
