There are fears over the future of the Fly DSA Arena in Sheffield and the City Hall – with staff warned the venues may not reopen immediately after the coronavirus pandemic.

  1. This is nothing new for Sheffield as what we are good at is closing facilities, for this happened to Don Valley Sports Stadium, one of the few outcomes from the disastrous World Student Games of 1991.

    The games were a financial disaster costing Sheffield £658 million, a games which was billed by Sheffield Councillors of 1986/7 a games that would not cost Sheffield 1p, which was true it cast Sheffield £658 million.

    Then many of the attractions were left to decay.
