‘mask manufacturer Valmy failed to fulfil the terms of a £1.2m contract with the NHS to supply about 7m masks in the event of a pandemic’, this not only proves that the concept of “just in time” logistics to supply personal protective equipment (PPE) in a pandemic situation, but to the strength of the contract between the NHS and Valmy and privatisation within the NHS.
Surely all contracts should have a severe ‘penalty clause’ included where failure to deliver is seen and why not a self-sufficient NHS for all supplies.
