The PM’s actions are a resigning matter: democracy is in peril when our leaders no longer care about being seen to lie, says psychologist Stephen Reicher

There is much debate whether Partygate is a resigning matter or not, for Johnson is still apparently, sticking with his comment that he was not aware that the law was being broken and previously no parties took place.
This for many of us is very hard to understand for we believe he is out and outright lying or that he didn’t understand the rules he brought in.
To me either way is a reason to resign, yes, he is a politician and we have come to accept that they lie or are convenient with the degree of truth they state, but to then believe he didn’t understand the rules, well, if he didn’t why should anyone and they were at least fined much more than £50.
The Tory MPs are now saying with the Russia/Ukraine War it is not the time to resign, but, if so when will the right time be, for there will always be circumstances to state ‘it is not right time’.
Whether he is fined or not he needs to go and if fined definitely.
For him to stay is making a ‘mockery of the position of ‘Prime Minister’ and likens to being a dictator.
