Start reform of social care now – open letter to the Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer & Secretary of State for Health & Social Care from social care leaders

I support this Open Letter and urge you to do so also.

Social Care has been in crisis for way too long and this Government and all previous Governments have totally ignored the continuing decline in Social Care, mainly due to lack of long term sustainable financing.

It is the poor relation of health, but they are both inter-related, for insufficient social care means that the call on health resourses will be greater.

Before COVID there was a need for much better financing, but COVID has only made it much worse.

This can’t be ignored any longer and immediate action has to be taken now. So please support by sharing

Dear Prime Minister, Boris Johnson MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak MP and Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, Matt Hancock MP

SOCIAL CARE REFORM

We are writing as leaders of organisations that represent adult social care nationally to urge the Government to act now on reform of England’s social care system and publish its proposals before the Summer Recess. In common with all people who draw on care and support, and colleagues working across social care, we are clear that the time to deliver reform is now. Reform must be underpinned by a positive vision: ‘We all want to live in the place we call home with the people and things that we love, in communities where we look out for one another, doing the things that matter to us’, as Social Care Future put it.

Transforming social care so that it is sustainable and helps…

Huge explosions rock Gaza as Israeli warplanes launch first airstrikes since ceasefire | Daily Mail Online

Israel’s military said the explosions were a response to the launching of incendiary balloons that caused fires in fields in southern Israel.

============================================

Here we have the classic no trust on both sides, similar to what we had in Northern Ireland, which is still not fully sorted, but peace has been kept to a major degree.

Israel are still allowing israeli settlemen ts on what the Palestians believe to be their land, so there needs to be some show of faith from Israel, otherwise nothing will ever be sorted. One side has to show contrition to show they can be trusted.

If there was one on whom I would expect this to be so, would be the Jewish faith for over the years they have and are still being subjected to acts against them, but they need to take the lead and to not be so distracted by act against them. To bomb Gaza as they are doing is way above the acts from Hamas. Surely a toned down response could be put in place.

It is easy for me to say, for I am not involved in either side, but in some instances eyes of others can be an advantage. This is so because the acts so far are not easing the situation just maintaining it and could well be making it much worse.

For the Queen to back the BBC over her grandson is not just awkward, it marks a turning point

It is jaw-dropping that she should align with the same BBC that William condemned last month

==========================================

Who is right and who is wrong, perhaps both are, for this is all down to opinions, Mental Health and how people are preceived to be.

In the Royal Family there are many years of tradition, which the Queen appears to wish to preserve, but it will not always be so, for there is more modern thinking coming through. So will Charles and then William and any others following keep to these traditions, well we will have to wait and see.

Then there is public opinion and this can be fickle, so support for ‘The family’ can never be guaranteed, just look at the death of Diana.

There is also the assumed antics of Charles during his marriage to Diana, the life and times of Princess Margaret, and then Prince Andrew, plus others. It would appear that the male lineage

We have to believe that both Harry and Meghan could well have mental health issues and these could cloud judgement.

Every family have their problems, but not many are conducted in full view or as full a view as we are allowed to see.

With Meghan there was a great opportunity for ‘The Family’ to come into the 21st Centuary, but is The Family really wishing to do so, for to do so, some degree of privilege and privacy is bound to be affected. They could have shown how diverse they are, because currently they appear to be the model of ‘White Supremacy’, whether they wish to or not.

We have seen in the past how after a passage of time information comes to light which discredits what was said at the time. This happens in many families so will certainly happen in the royal family, for nothing is ever as it seems, and The Family have always been scant with their information.

The Family do believe they are superior to others, that they have a God given right to be where they are, when in fact, it is being in the right place at the right time or even not always right.

But in affect they are just Human beings, just as the rest of us, but have much more money and certainly much more privileges than most of us.

Both sides need to scale back, for if they do not I fear for the consequences.

After A Year At Home, Children With Disabilities Deserve Priority Vaccination

Again persons with learning disabilities are getting a raw deal, why is this always so?

If not adukts it is children, why all this discrimination, for they are citizens as well and we should all be treated equally

Same Difference

They disappeared more than a year ago and many are still out of sight. When the pandemic hit, 53,000 under-18s in England with disabilities that made them vulnerable to coronavirus began to shield away at home.

Kept off school long after their classmates went back, and away from friends, they have found their childhoods put on hold. And while the vaccine rollout gave high-risk adults some reprieve in the new year, those aged under 16, who have not been eligible for any vaccine, are still living in limbo.

Yet we have barely heard a thing about disabled children’s plight through the coronavirus crisis – a silence that has not been helped by the faux-reassuring narrative that “no healthy child” has died from the virus. And now that the UK regulator has at last approved the Pfizer vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds, this blind spot is becoming…

E-Scooters ‘Not Safe’ Without Audible Signals

Yes, audible on e-scooters would be good, but more imoertant is the attitude of the person with the e-scooter for pedestrians.

I say this for my experience of persons on bycylces, some have bells but mainly it is their vocal out bursts. For those I have come across feel they have the right of way be it road or pavement. When I wish to cross a road, I will use a crossing when there is one, but in many instances there are not so I have to cross the road. Now in my 70s I am not as nimble on foot as I used to be and cross where I see the road is clear. But my slownest of step does on some occasions mean traffic may come while I am still crossing, Cars extra will slow down and allow me to cross rather than peeing their car horns, scaring me.

But not so with the cyclists I experience, they do not slow down, they shout very loudly and angrily for me to get out of their way, rather than excepting my slowness of mobility.

You could nargue that they have the right of way on the road and you may be correct, but if they do not show consideration people will get hurt.

But on the pavement, surely the pedestrian have the right of way and I nhave experienced on many occasions, more so han on the road with cyclists shouting and ringing bells, and many occasions when they have not done so, but pass me at speed very close to me, the first I know is when they go flying past.

As yet I have to experience my first encounter, maybe that due to COVID I have not been out for more than a year.

So while bells will be good on e-scooters it is the attitude to other users of the same space, which I feel is way more important.

Same Difference

A visually impaired woman from London says e-scooters are not safe enough to be used across the city as they do not have audible signals.

The signals, which alert pedestrians to the silent e-scooters, will not be installed for at least two months.

Transport for London (TfL) said in May the e-scooters would have audible warning systems that could be used without riders adjusting their grip.

It now says that all e-scooters on the rental scheme are fitted with bells.

The RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) said e-scooters posed potential risks to blind and partially sighted people because “they are fast-moving, difficult to detect, and are often ridden on the pavement despite this being illegal”.

London’s walking and cycling commissioner, Will Norman, said the trial could not be stopped to fit them.

He said: “We can’t stop the trial before everything is brought in because we need to continue…

Sport loves athletes with mental health issues – if they just shut up and play | Marina Hyde | The Guardian

The grand slams say Naomi Osaka’s decisions about press are ‘injurious’ to tennis. Perhaps they should look closer to home, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

=============================================

This all shows that the powers that be in sport, especially in Tennis do not care about people in sport, but are only there for their own interests and those of the media.

If these persons in power do not change then there could well be no participants in sport for tournaments to take place and they will only have themselves to blame.

Money and power are the root of all evil and will spoil the enjoyment of all concerned, the sport participants and the spectators of sports.

This will be the next area of abuse to be inspected, for we have already seen how participants have been treated by some trainers and managers in gymnastics

Money has taken over most sports and lead to great abuses of power or assumed power, the proposed Super league of top football clubs in Europe is another prime example

Doctor warns holding Games could lead to ‘Olympic virus’ strain – Japan Today

The head of a Japanese doctors’ union warned on Tuesday that holding the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer, with tens of thousands of people from around the world, could lead to the emergence of an “Olympic” strain of the coronavirus. Japan has pledged to hold a “safe and secure”…

============================================

The Japanese Government and the IOC do not care about anyone in Japan otherwise they would have already cancelled the Olympic Games 2021.

To them the Games are the top priority and when the COVID pandemic takes off more strongly they will just ignore the responsibilities that should have taken.

I appreciate that the athletes hav trained for this event and has already be cancelled last year, but this is above the needs of the athletes for it is about the population of Japan and the populations of the countries that the athletes will be returning to.

So the Games should have alredy been cancelled, but it is not too late, so for all concerned please cancel these Olympics and the Para-Olympics immediately.

Japan’s Olympic delegation to receive vaccinations from June 1 | The Japan Times

The Japanese Olympic Committee says it will avoid using public health officials in order to reduce the strain on the country’s medical system amid efforts to vaccinate senior citizens.

Japan and the IOC are doing all they can to justify their decision to proceed with the Games, but the best option would still be to cancel the Games, for although the vaccines rediuce to prospect of catching COVID-19 and if you do the possible the consequences you still catch it and pass it on, so on persons returning hoem could still pass COVID to their family members or anyothers.

So continuing with the Games is still not justified.

Tokyo Games cancelation likely to cost Japan ¥1.81 tril: Nomura – Japan Today

Canceling the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics this summer would cost Japan around 1.81 trillion yen ($17 billion), a research institute estimate showed Tuesday, as Japan scrambles to curb coronavirus infections with the major sporting event now just two months away. The Nomura Research Institute warns of even a bigger economic…

So what is the price of life in Japan, for to hold the Olympics could well cost even more lives and those of the athletes attending for would they have a claim against Japan and the Olympics Committee.

These games, for all concerned, should be cancelled, otherwise it could well be a supernova event which will cost untold lives.

Japan plans to extend COVID-19 state of emergency beyond May 31 – Japan Today

The Japanese government plans to extend the COVID-19 state of emergency covering Tokyo, Osaka and other areas beyond the current deadline of May 31, sources familiar with the matter said Monday, as infections have yet to significantly subside, leaving the medical system strained. One plan under discussion is for the…

What is Japan or to be correct what is the Japanese |Government playing at, for it appears they are not taking the COVID-19 pandemic seriously, for if they were they would have cancelled the forthcomingOlympic Games, to continue to stage them is completely irrational and shows a complete lack of judgement.

It is total irresponsibility to allow the Games to continue and could cause an event which allows the pandemic to proceed more quickly at a time when their vaccine programme is proceeding very slowly.

The games need to be cancelled without anyfurther delay.
