Architect of bin Laden raid: Trump ‘threatens the Constitution’ when he attacks the media – CNNPolitics

Washington (CNN)Retired Adm. William McRaven on Sunday stood by his previous statement that President Donald Trump’s attacks on the news media represent “the greatest threat to democracy” after the President dismissed him as a “Hillary Clinton backer” in an interview that aired on Fox News.

“I did not back Hillary Clinton or anyone else,” McRaven, who oversaw the operation that killed Osama bin Laden, told CNN. “I am a fan of President Obama and President George W. Bush, both of whom I worked for. I admire all presidents, regardless of their political party, who uphold the dignity of the office and who use that office to bring the nation together in challenging times.”
“I stand by my comment that the President’s attack on the media is the greatest threat to our democracy in my lifetime,” McRaven said, referencing remarks he made about Trump last year. “When you undermine the people’s right to a free press and freedom of speech and expression, then you threaten the Constitution and all for which it stands.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Source: Architect of bin Laden raid: Trump ‘threatens the Constitution’ when he attacks the media – CNNPolitics

Donald Trump Plans to Bypass the Courts to Deport as Many People as Possible

The more I see and hear President Donald Trump wishes to govern as a dictator, which will be the end of democracy in America. He believes he is the one supreme being whose word or demand has to be obeyed.

He has all ready started to take control of the press and now is starting on the judiciary. Then what is his next venture holding camps or even worse extermination camps for those who he and he alone considers undesirables and where have we seen that occur before.

Stop Making Sense

Ryan Devereaux reports for The Intercept:

On Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security released a pair of memos laying out how the agency intends to implement President Donald Trump’s executive orders on domestic immigration enforcement. In addition to calling for a massive increase in the number of immigration agents and the deputizing of local and state law enforcement across the country — described in the documents as a “force multiplier”— the memos dramatically expand the range of people who can be deported without seeing a judge.

“I see now what the plan is,” Greg Siskind, a Tennessee-based immigration attorney and member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association board of governors, told The Intercept. “Their plan is basically to have everybody thrown out of the country without ever going to court.” Additional immigration attorneys and legal experts who spoke to The Intercept shared Siskind’s concerns, describing various elements of the DHS directives and the…

CETA: Jean-Claude Juncker tells Belgium to change constitution over EU-Canada trade deal | UK | News | Daily Express

One of the many reasons that the UK voted for Brexit, Juncker assumes he is more important, influential and a power figure than he is, but within time this could be how the EU becomes. Currently each of the 28 are in most respects are individual countries, but the power mad EU Bureaucrats are ahead of themselves, but give them the opportunity and they will gain and exert this power, in which case the remaining 27 will cease to exist as individual countries. I hope all of the 27 are happy with this forth coming situation.

Why a President Trump Could Start a Trade War With Surprising Ease – The New York Times

Americans often dismiss populist promises that emerge on the presidential campaign trail because they are unlikely to be passed by Congress. Should Donald J. Trump get elected, Congress most likely would moderate his proposals to cut taxes, increase spending and even to build a border wall.

But international trade policy is one area where a President Trump could unilaterally deliver on the changes that he has promised.
