FEMA Under Trump Fails To Help After Tornados Devastate S.E. The Incompetence Is Showing Already.

THIS is what American Carnage means. Just as FEMA failed to get help to NOLA after Katrina, so Trump and his team have dropped the ball after tornado storms ripped through the SouthEast this past Saturday and Sunday. There are 20 people dead and communities devastated with some areas looking like what many call a war zone. Officials are begging Trump to send help TWO-THREE DAYS after the tornado storms. Make sure you spread this story. Trump supporters need to see what voting for incompetent, anti-government Republicans gets them. No help when you need it. Republicans are about installing cronies and reaping profits for themselves and not about making sure Government works for the welfare of the people.

Officials Beg Trump to Send Help After Storms Kill 20 Across South

Desperate officials pleaded with President Donald Trump to send federal assistance Monday after at least 20 people were killed by storms and tornadoes that caused devastation authorities likened to the impact of a nuclear blast.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said he had dispatched a letter to Trump pleading for help after four people were killed in his state.

Campaign for disabled people to be given the same rights as everyone else | DisabledGo News and Blog

As Channel 4 trailed the Paralympics with a promo entitled We Are The Superhumans on Wednesday, disabled protesters blocked off the streets of Westminster under the banner #RightsNotGames. A week of protests called out the great lie behind how we view disability . “We’re either superhuman or we’re scroungers,” said Ellen Clifford from Disabled People Against Cuts. “Otherwise we’re invisible.” DPAC and other groups such as Black Triangle know the super-scrounger lie can be fatal for disabled people in the UK. Austerity cuts including the Bedroom Tax , sanctions and brutal fit-for-work tests have cost the lives of countless disabled people since 2010. Cuts that are only possible because the super-scroungers narrative tells us no “real” disabled people will lose out. At London 2012, this was brought shockingly into focus when ATOS – a corporation then making huge profits from controversial ‘fit-for-work’ tests accused of impoverishing disabled people – sponsored the Paralympics. Vox Political Against Islamophobia and the ISIS Terror Attacks You Don’t Hear About

Beastrabban\'s Weblog

Daesh’s Muslim Victims

Mike over at Vox Political has put up a couple of posts keeping the Brussels attacks in perspective. The attacks, as well as those in Paris, were a horrible atrocity committed by fanatics with no conscience or respect for the lives of innocents. But Mike also reminds us that there have also been Muslim victims of Daesh’s terror campaign, that have not received anywhere near the same amount of coverage and outrage. These people too deserve our sympathy, and we should also be outraged and disgusted at their suffering.

Mike has put up a list showing the numbers of people killed by ISIS’ thugs and butchers, not just in Brussels, Paris and San Diego, but also in Yemen, Tunisia, Ankara in Turkey, Afghanistan, Beirut, Libya and Baghdad. The atrocities committed in these places have also killed tens and hundreds of people. And Mike’s article reminds us that…

Tory MP David Willetts’ Defence of the Welfare State

Beastrabban\'s Weblog

The Tory MP, David Willetts, a member of the ‘One Nation’ group within the party, which had been set up to reconcile the Conservatives with the NHS, wrote a defence of the welfare state in his 1992 book, Modern Conservatism. This is surprising, not only because Willetts was a Tory, but also because he was Thatcher’s former adviser on social security. He wrote

Nobody is very clear why a Conservative should support a welfare state. It seems to fit in with the highmindedness of the Liberals and the egalitarianism of the Labour party. But what is conservative about it? If Conservatives do support it, is this mere political expediency? …

Why have a welfare state: efficiency and community
The are two types of argument for a welfare state. Neither is exclusively conservative, but they both tie in closely with two crucial elements of conservative philosophy – the belief in…

Secular Talk on Donald Trump’s Confused Position on Healthcare

Beastrabban\'s Weblog

This is an interesting piece. Kyle Kulinski takes apart The Donald’s weird and confused answer on the question of healthcare in the Republican presidential debates. The moderator notes that Trump has said that he wants to repeal Obamacare, and opposes the introduction of universal healthcare, because it would lead to massive tax rises across America. So she asks the obvious question: What would he replace it with?

At which point, Trump starts humming and ha-ing, stating that there are a lots of examples of what could be done. He would repeal Obamacare, but make sure everyone was covered. He would introduce greater competition, and go back to free enterprise. He states he would repeal the arbitrary red line about insurance, and then criticises the insurance companies for pushing up the cost of healthcare to unaffordable levels, and profiting from it. He then states that the costs would come down if…
