David Davis has admitted the House of Lords could act to scupper full Brexit, but warned peers they would be “unwise” to try and prevent Britain being stripped of its EU membership. The Brexit Secretary accepted new legislation would be needed to ensure a clean break from the EU, repealing directives and cementing autonomy from the European Court.

“Tragically, the government has now chosen this second approach on Brexit. It didn’t have to resort to this; even though I disagree, there is a credible pro-EU economic case that can be made. Yet the Treasury report on the supposed long-term impact of leaving the EU is shameful, undoubtedly the worst piece of “research” from a government department in years.

It starts off with a scandalously biased assumption: that there can be no possible economic benefits to Brexit, just costs. But is it, remember this is a Government publication, a Government who are wishing to stay in the EU. So if there are any facts which do not support staying in would this publication report them. This Government as not been truthful on a number of occasions, benefit cuts being one, so can we trust any Government publication. They are also overspending  on their campaign, which should not be allowed.
