Don’t Let Memories Die

Memories are our own history and is important to ourselves and our family to record as much as we can.

I do wish I had done this, especially with regards to my own parents, for they are no longer with us and these memories are now lost for ever.

Author -Carole Parkes

As an avid family historian, I’m a great believer in memoirs and autobiographies. If your aged family members are capable, encourage them to give you a written piece on  their life experiences. If that would be too difficult, encourage them to talk about their lives — the times they laughed until their sides ached, or when sadness overtook them, in fact, to tell you about everything, including what they remember about great uncle Fred.

I know, it’s not always easy in our busy lives to find time to sit and talk but, just remember, those frail relatives will probably not be around when you finally do have the time to spend with them. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard those researching their family trees say they wished they’d asked the questions. Please don’t be one of them. We often only develop an interest in our roots as we…

YOU MIGHT AS WELL LAUGH

Yes you may.

SERENDIPITY: SEEKING INTELLIGENT LIFE ON EARTH

Oh, The Irony

For some of us, irony is just the way it goes. Life is one ironic incident after another. Just when you think you’ve finally got it together, it falls apart. The job that looked like a career maker comes with the boss from Hell and some vital organ fails. Oh well. You might as well laugh. There’s no percentage in tears.

Life in shreds? Out of work? Evicted? Hiding from the repo guy? Other half dump you? Meds not working? Bank threatening to foreclose? Don’t take it personally. It’s just  a little ironic humor by Life, Inc.

Disaster is life’s cute and funny way of pointing out how little control you have over your fate. Don’t cry. No one likes a cry-baby. Smile! That’s it! Go on. No suffering allowed. No one wants to hear your sad story … unless you turn it into a funny story! Then everyone

Tony Blair; When will he be held Accountable?

Tony Blair, The Money Lord

Tony Blair, what will he do next? Well I can bet, that whatever it is, he will make even more money.

I have never trusted him and I can remember at the time he was first elected making the comment, ‘How can anyone vote for someone, with a smile like his’ I just looked at his face and all I could think was ‘phony’.

What I can not understand, is how he is not held accountable for his actions. He puts me in mind of someone acting a part and you keep waiting to see the real person. He appears to be disliked by many, but liked by a few. The problem is the few, all appear to be in positions of power and wealth.

You just keep waiting to see it all disintegrate, but then it never happens, but hopefully it will be good fun when it does.

There is always talk that Tony Blair may come back to UK politics, but hopefully that is just a rumour.

Rescue, Time saves lives?

Nuts

Oh my, how many more poor creatures are at risk. I am told there are 100s, if not 1000s, may be many more, of poor creatures in our sewers who may be in danger and will need to be rescued. I am not sure what these creatures are, as I have not been down the sewers to see them.

But someone has told me they may be called RATS. Anyway, they do deserve to be helped.

Anyone willing to volunteer, please ring their local Health Authority and ask for their medication to be increased.

I do believe that my Christmas and New Year celebrations to have been very excessive, as I feel I have been in a coma for going on 3 months, as it must be 1st April today.

Obesity; Ban Fast Food

Obesity appoint Tsars

An obesitytsar’ should be appointed at every NHS trust to tackle a crisis affecting  millions, leading doctors say. Is this feasible, can the NHS afford for each trust to appoint an Obesity Tsar, when apparently there is already a NHS funding crisis.  Wards closing, fewer nurses and complaints rising, perhaps an additional member of staff for each Trust is pushing it.

But what can be done, lets have a look.  Over the years some other activities have been cause for concern and they were or are being dealt with.

Cigarettes are bad for your health, so they are heavily taxed, advertising is virtually banned, plain wrapped cartons with explicit health warnings. Alcohol is bad for health, still heavily taxed and threat of minimum prices and buying offers to be banned to try to restrict binge drinking.

Now it is obesity, lets look at some causes, lack of exercise, bad diets and drinking. What more can be done about drinking, with the exception of banning it completely. Oh, just a minute, tried in the USA 1920-1933. Exercise, favourable taxes could be applied for Gym membership, but this would favour some of the rich (Labour and Lib Dems object) and no money available due to current financial circumstances of the country.

I know, what about banning or heavily taxing fast food, precedent set , see cigarettes and to some extent drinking. This is unlikely to affect the rich, therefore Tories may be in favour. But just a minute, what about the not so rich, Oh go ahead, does anyone care.

But obesity is a problem, but is mainly of ones own making, the only way for obesity to be tackled is for everyone who has an obesity problem, to want to over come it. But in the first instance, it may be convincing some people that they have an obesity problem.  Possibly a second is the thought that they have a right to be obese, if they so wish. Obesity will be a major problem for some time, possibly for ever, do you have the answer?

Now it is too much sugar

So The Royal College of Physicians needs to alter their thinking, an ‘Obesity Tzar’ is not required, just reduce sugar content.

But if sugar content is reduced, how will the food taste, we have all grown accustomed to the sweetish taste in our foods.

Lets face it, ingest too much of anything and it is in some way not good for you.

There are now so many answers to so few questions, so how do we know what to do?

Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and others, which, if any, can be trusted

David Cameron pushing for ethnic votes

From this article and the comments it would appear the Tories are trusted less than Labour and the Lib Dems do not get a mention.

When will we all view all parties by the same yard stick. All elected representatives are politicians and none can be trusted, How anyone can possibly trust Labour after so many years of rule by President Elect Tony Blair, sorry I was believing his rhetoric, I mean Mr Tony Blair. Can anyone tell me one truth he as uttered?

My party views

Conservative   I expect nothing from this party and this is what I get, but feel they care for the country, as it is in their and their supporters interests for the UK to be successful.
Labour  I expect this party to look after my interests, due to my Working Class background, but I get nothing from them.  They are too concerned for their own outlook, see Mr TB.
Lib Dems and others  Are any worth any mention?
So, do I support a party I expect to get nothing from and do not or a party I expect to get something from, but do not.
The choice is mine.
