Since March, Israel has reportedly shot and killed 34 children. That’s more than one murder for each week. In fact, the violence is so extreme that witnesses have claimed children are deliberate targets.
On 30 March, known as ‘Land Day‘, thousands of Palestinians peacefully camped on the Israeli-Gaza border. The intention was to remain there until 15 May, the 70th anniversary of the Nakba (Arabic for “catastrophe”). Nakba acknowledges the displacement of Palestinians after the founding of the Israeli state.
But these peaceful protests met with extreme violence from Israel. In April, a UN statement clearly stated that Gaza is under “military occupation”. And it warned against Israel’s continued use of “excessive force”.
Since then, demonstrations known as the Great Return March have continued. But the violent response of the Israeli military (IDF) hasn’t stopped. And as the Electronic Intifada reported on 24 October, witnesses say Israel intentionally targets children.
This week, some reports suggested Israel had murdered 31 children in 31 weeks:

A professor has openly criticised Israel’s victim-blaming surrounding the Gaza massacre, live on air.
On 14 May, at least 60 people were murdered by Israeli troops. Current figures say over 2,000 people were injured as Israel Defense Forces (IDF) opened fire. Children and a baby are among the dead and injured. Israel and the US have defended the violence. But Princeton professor Eddie Glaude Jr compared this atrocity to the violence enacted against the children who marched for civil rights in the US in 1963.
He’s absolutely right. The Israeli narrative is bullshit.

The Israeli military said it was investigating a video that surfaced on Monday that appears to show IDF sharpshooters cheering as one of them shoots and fells a Palestinian who approached the Gaza security fence.
The video, which was widely shared on the WhatsApp messaging application, was apparently filmed through a scope or binoculars.
The soldiers can be heard discussing the shot head of time, as the sniper trains his rifle on the suspect, who is seen standing next to another Palestinian crouching in front of a roll of barbed wire several meters away from the security fence.

Other than commenting that these acts have occurred, where is the UN comment as to their legality.
