Universal Credit: Mentally ill man asked how often he changes his underwear

What is wrong with the DWP or more correctly what is wrong with the DWP Benefit assessors, for they appear to go out of their way to humiliate certain claimants.

A qualified doctor certified that a 35-year-old benefit claimant was unfit for work due to their mental health issues, but a DWP assessor found the opposite and also asked extremely humiliating questions.

How can this be deemed to be right?

This form of assessing needs to be stopped immediately.

It is in fact a form of abuse to a vulnerable person, which is against the Care Act 2014 or is the DWP excluding from such legislation?

Man criticises Government after being found ‘fit to work’ while on Universal Credit.

Both Jakes GP and the mental health charity Healthy Minds are currently stating that he is not fit to work, but the DWP are solely relying on the evidence of a doctor who saw him for some 40 mins. Who knows if this doctor has any knowledge of mental health issues.

Also as Jake say is his state of dress any bearing on his ability to work and his mental health, they are just clutching at straws to bring as many persons into the ‘fit to work’ category as they can irrespective of whether they are totally fit to work. For days follow days and with some mental health issues how you are one day will not be the same you are the next or the next, even through one day you can go through many degrees of fitness due to your mental health conditions.

They should leave health assessments to the health experts and not just use someone who may be more concerned with their employment with DWP than the health of the individual they are assessing.

The DWP are just abusing their position and are abusers to many claimants.

Abuse, Isolation and Re-traumatization

GentleKindness

abuse corner

.

.

Domestic abuse shatters your self esteem because you are treated in such an inhuman way.  No…worse than that…you are treated worse than an animal.

.

Domestic violence and mental / emotional abuse take away your dignity and leave you feeling heavily weighted with shame. It is hard for people who have not been through abuse to understand the shame, and it is hard to explain to them.

.

The events which occur behind closed doors, in an abusive house, are dofficult to tell people about. If you try to tell them and they do not believe you, this can be very painful and re-traumatizing.

.

Because you cannot tolerate any more pain, you will likely give up after being re-traumatized a few times by people you thought would believe you.

.

Some of the events are hard for people to believe, particularly if they knew your abuser, and…

Stigma About Mental Illness

GentleKindness

Stigma about mental illness keeps many people from seeking treatment. Out f fear of social isolation, discrimination and misunderstanding due to their invisible illness, people fear the diagnosis and the permanent label to be fixed upon them.

There are many kinds of mental illness that are very different from each other.

People that have had incidents of severe depression are obviously not a danger to others, but being labeled with “mental illness” means that the same stigma will apply to them as to everyone else with a history of mental illness.

A former soldier who has had PTSD in the past, still carries the “history of mental illness” red flag in his records.

You hear the phrase “has a history of mental illness” on the news when some psychopath kidnaps a child. You hear this same phrase when a psychpathic 17 year old guns down his fellow students in the…

Endless Light and Love

My Dear Friends,

Domestic abuse, most often brushed under the carpet, locked behind the doors of the home, never spoken about, hidden behind shaking smiles in the hope that one day it will be ok and everything will go back to the time before the abuse started to happen!….

Unfortunately, in most cases, the abuse never stops, in most cases the abuse escalates to even higher levels, often the abuse moves over from one family member to others and sometimes even continues across generations, when the abused become the abuser !

Today, I pray for all the victims of abuse. Abuse can come in many forms, physical abuse, mental abuse, sexual abuse, confinement abuse etc.

No one, No one deserves to be abused!

No one should be treated without respect!

No one should have to live in fear!

No one……No one.

If you are in a situation of abuse, then…

Are you the Scapegoat in Your Family?

GentleKindness

Scapegoating is a term that is used for the one person in a dysfunctional family that is targeted by the abusive family member for receiving the most aggressive abuse.

Usually this person is targeted by the abuser because of their resistance to pretending that the household is normal.

If you were the truth teller in the family then you pointed out when boundaries were being crossed and when the other people were being mistreated. You were the one that probably defended siblings who were being abused. You may have tried to draw the abuse towards yourself in order to protect younger siblings from getting the brunt of it.

Very often the main abusive parent has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, although there are other personality disorders which cause people to abuse their children, like Malignant Borderline Personality Disorder.

The narcissistic parent us the focal point of the family because they demand that…

They are there, whether you like it or not.

GentleKindness

We might like to, but we cannot…

10. Drop them off at a random bus station and say “good luck!”

9. Change our phone number, but keep telling them they are dialing the number  wrong.

8. Turn out the lights and hide behind the door, like they do in “What About Raymond?” tv show

7. List them on Craig’s List under the “Please Take … Free…you haul”   section

6. Send a postcard from where you go on vacation and tell them you moved there

5. Have a remote control that plays the CD Player really loud, and hit the button every time they start to criticize you or give you annoying advice

4. Fake a doctor’s note that you have suddenly become deaf and cannot talk on the phone or even hear them when they are speaking directly to you

3. Take them back for a refund !
