Users of social networks have reported aggressions in Madrid in the aftermath of the historic rally held by pro-independence organizations on Saturday against the trial of the Catalan political prisoners and to defend the right to self-determination.

British Army veteran facing deportation says he ‘can’t sleep at night’ because of how the Home Office has treated him – inews.co.uk

Trevor Rene was born in 1969 in Dominica, automatically becoming a British subject citizen because the Caribbean island was a British colony until 1978.

His grandfather had settled in the UK in 1948 – as part of the Windrush generation – and in 2008 he came over to visit family on a tourist visa. He’d been allowed to serve in the British Army for six years, then he fell in love and married Diane, an NHS clerk.

But in 2014 the Reserves were forced to let him go because his paperwork wasn’t in order. A year later he was locked up in a detention centre. He was released but has spent the last four years unable to work – and now his spousal visa has been rejected.

After he shared his story with i, the 49-year-old, who lives in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, wrote a first-person account of his ordeal.

There are no two ways about it – the Home Office is ruining my life and breaching both mine and my wife’s human rights.

We married last year – after being together for nine years – yet they refuse to allow me indefinite leave to remain. They say she doesn’t earn enough to sponsor me, yet I have provided the pay slips showing that she does.

The Trial Against Catalan Political Prisoners Gets Closer

The countdown to the trial against Catalan political prisoners has already begun. This week itself ended the deadline for the defenses to ask for the revocation of the instruction, which will surely be dismissed by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court. Thereafter, the trial court can present its conclusions from the investigations and the opening of the trial can be decreed.However, the prisoners’ defense will seek to block it until their appeals are resolved.

The defense estimates that the trial will begin in January.And that this could last for about two months, just before the campaign for local and European elections begin.However, they suspect that the Supreme Court could intend to initiate the trial in November in order to take the defense by surprise and undermine their strategy.

Until now, the opening of the trial has been delayed because the defense has appealed the instructions of Judge Llarena and the provisional orders of imprisonment. The recusations…

The Week that Spain Lost Catalonia

Has the Spanish Government scored an own goal, for no matter about the rights and wrongs, the legitimacy or not and the support for the Catalonia Independence referendum by the Spanish actions this could solidify support for the referendum which may or may not have been there originally.

To make matters even worse they instructed or the Spanish courts did to use excessive force to stop the referendum.

Courts do not usually create actions by themselves, but others have to make applications to them, was this the Spanish Government or one or more of their supporters. In bringing these many actions this may be increasing support for the Catalonian independence movement and be bringing it even closer to an affirmative conclusion.

The detention of 15 high-ranking officials and the suspension of the Catalan government, last week by the Spanish government, in order to halt the referendum on independence set for tomorrow appears to have united separatists, federalists, and a significant number of unionists in defense of the vote.

“I have always been opposed to this referendum, because I am a federalist. However, the latest Spanish aggressions against Catalonia in order to humiliate our people is intolerable. That’s the main reason why I have decided to vote, and I will vote “YES” because I do not want to belong to a dictatorship like Turkey any longer. Saudi Arabia’s Violations of Human Rights Supported by Trump’s Administration

Saudi Arabia some many human rights abuses and ruled by Saudi Royal family under extreme Sharia law and some terrorists have been from Saudi, but Saudi was not part of Donald Trump’s executive order. Does this mean President Donald Trump agrees with the rulings of law in Saudi , for such an outspoken person he appears to be quiet about this.

Regardless of its efforts to hide it from the international community, numerous local human rights organisations have regularly exposed the abuses perpetrated by the regime. In response, the Saudi government has banned all international human rights organisations from entering Saudi Arabia. As numerous organisations have suggested, the primary problem remains in the system and the interpretation of the Sharia (Islamic law).

Netanyahu: “the Right of Protection”

Days after the UN (United Nations) condemned the expansion of the Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced that Israel will not abide by the UN resolution because it is an attempt against Israeli’s security. Instead, Netanyahu announced mass punishments against the countries that voted for the resolution.

Netanyahu considers that the expansion of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories serves to protect Israel from terrorism. Nevertheless, the international community reflects that the existing dispute between Israel and Palestine will increase.

Netanyahu is leading a radical coalition, considered to be the most right-wing in Israeli history.Avigdor Lieberman, who heads Yisrael Beiteinu – the other major party in the ruling coalition – opposes to recognise Palestine as a state. He has also proposed to transfer the Arabic community (including Israeli Citizens) from Israel to Cisjordania to evade a forthcoming Arabic majority in Israel.

Turkey coup: President Erdogan shuts down thousands of institutions, including hospitals

More than 2,000 institutions were closed on Saturday by the Turkish President,
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in reaction to the recent attempted coup by parts of the military. The number of organisations shut down includes 35 hospitals, 19 unions and 1,043 schools. Mr Erdoğan has also closed than 1,000 charities and associations.

The Erdoğan regime alleges they are all linked to US-based cleric Muhammed Fethullah Gülen, the Turkish leader’s political enemy – and the man he blames for the coup.

The closures are included in a decree published by the state-owned news agency,Anadolu. They are the first instructions Mr Erdoğan has given after he granted himself extra powers by imposing a state of emergency.

Also included in the decree is the ability to detain suspects for a maximum of 30 days, increased from the previous limit of four.
