Capita PIP Assessors Slam Employer And Claimants


PIP Assessors and Capita, well what can be said, claimants have said much about them and a lot is not good, so are the assessors doing payback to claimants.

But benefits are a very emotive subject, as many claimants are coming at a time of great need, so any problems could well cause comments from claimants, no matter how or not justified there are.

But, assessors are supposed to be professionals, well they are being paid to do a job of employment and therefore it is very unprofessional to make adverse comments at all about about claimants, let alone on the various media outlets.

Similar could be said about assessors criticising their employers, Capita, but, I feel Capita are big enough to take it.

With all the various criticisms of the benefit system, Capita and to some extent Atos and some assessors, should this benefit and others still be maintained in the private sector.

I believe not and it should be transferred in-house to the DWP, who may not be any better, but then they could be better.

Will the Government do this, well it appears not and it looks like they are not prepared to mention why.

Is it because they do not wish to admit failure, when it is staring everyone in the face, or are there other reasons, which we could only speculate on.

Whatever, it is and there could be many reasons, it is apparent that the benefit process is not ‘fit for purpose’ in many respects, but not all as some claimants could well be happy with their outcomes, but are not as vocal as those who are not.

The benefit process is in dire need of improvement as are many other areas this Government has meddled with, lets not mention Test and Trace. Oh, too late I have.

This Government needs to put many actions in place to improve many areas, but are they up to it, well that is the question and currently it appears the answer is NO.

Assessors allegedly working for Capita have given a string of 1 star reviews for the company on the Indeed website, slamming long hours and unpredictable audits. Some warned of a lack of care or compassion for claimants, but one former assessor calls claimants “aggressive liars” and “supposed invalids” whilst another claimed that they had been “physical and verbally abused” and had a claimant “stork” them.

The reviews all appear on the Indeed website and we have no way of knowing whether they are all from genuine current or former employees of Capita. But they go all the way from the present back to 2014 and it would be very surprising if Capita had not taken action long ago if they believed they were bogus.

Thousands turned away from benefit assessments due to staff shortages : Welfare Weekly


DWP staff shortages are causing thousands of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants to be sent home unseen from health assessment appointments.

Figures revealed by a DWP minister show that in 2018, 5,700 Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants attended their health assessment, only to be turned away due to the unavailability of a health professional .

PIP, which replaced the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) has been widely condemned by experts, charities, and front-line services, with some saying the controversial new system shows a “lack of humanity” from the Tory government, and has caused a culture of “inherent distrust” of the welfare system.

New government research shows that hundreds of thousands more claimants of personal independence payment (PIP) would have taken further steps to challenge the results of their claims if the system had been less stressful and more accessible.

The research, carried out for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) by Ipsos MORI, has cast fresh doubt on government claims that only a small proportion of disabled people are unhappy with the decisions made on their PIP claims.

DWP has repeatedly claimed that only about nine per cent of PIP decisions have been appealed since it was launched in April 2013, and that as few as four per cent of all PIP decisions have been overturned at appeal.

They have used this to suggest that this means that the overwhelming majority of claimants are happy with the PIP assessment system.

But the new research, based on more than 1,200 interviews, explains why many disabled people who applied for PIP decided not to appeal against an award, even if their claim was rejected completely or was lower than they believed they needed.

The research found that, of those PIP claimants who decided not to request a mandatory reconsideration (MR) – the internal review stage of the process, after a decision on a PIP claim has been made – 10 per cent took that decision because they thought it would be too stressful, four per cent did not know how to seek an MR, and seven per cent said they did not know enough about MR to proceed*.

Only three-fifths of those surveyed said they had not sought an MR because they were happy with the award they were given.

Over a third don’t appeal PIP due to the stress


The whole process is deliberately made to be stressful to lead claimants to not appeal and so complicated so that some claimants will not fully understand the system of claiming.

Those claimants, being a minority, who are committed to defrauding the system will know it inside out as they, more likely than not, will be successful in their claims.

So the complicatedness of the system is there to thwart the genuine claimants, a complete reversal of what is said it is there for.

PIP Assessors Treat Sick People Like Criminals.


‘Hannah, from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, told i: “I was made to feel like a liar when I asked for help. I want the Government to know what they’re doing to us, what they’re putting us through. They treat sick people like criminals.”’, which is not technically correct for Criminals are presumed innocent until the Justice system proves otherwise, whereas PIP claimants are assumed guilty until the claimant can prove otherwise.

So, in effect PIP claimants are being treated worse than criminals.

PIP claimants will not be spared retests, DWP admits


People with “the most severe lifetime conditions”, those whose conditions will not improve and are more likely to get worse and at best stay the same. Surely is it not ridiculous to keep reassessing for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and cause additional stress. Also would it not be more cost effective to not reassess or is it just a ploy to cause more distress.
