A Confused Donald Trump Posts Witch Hunt Tweet that Actually Debunks His Witch Hunt Claim

Nobody is going to fall out of their chair by encountering a mindnumbingly boneheaded comment from the Dotard-in-Chief, Donald Trump. To the contrary, any sign of intelligence would be more likely to require a whiff of smelling salts. But every now and then our nation’s idiocy dispenser squeezes out something that really underscores our lowest expectations of him.

Monday was such a day as Trump manned his Twitter machine to rant about some perceived slight and/or yowl at his many looming enemies. When he isn’t lashing out manically at critics, he’s protesting too much about his fake innocence, or insisting that he’s a beloved figure about whom all the polls are lying. All of these harangues are disgorged on his Twitter feed, which is all too often an incoherent mess. For instance, just last week he boasted that his approval rating had climbed to fifty-two percent. But that was actually his disapproval rating. He also posted what he said was a “big story”that turned out to be a big lie from a wingnut website. And tucked into his latest tweetstorm was a little gem that truly captured the full measure of his dementia.

Sunday’s Trump Tweetstorm Calls First Amendment Illegal, ‘Should Be Tested in Courts’ [UPDATED]

If it’s Sunday, this Donald Trump’s regularly scheduled Twitter tantrum. Like clockwork, the President is firing off nearly incoherent messages that attack his critics, lie about easily verified matters, and promote his favorite source of propaganda, and the PR division of the Trump White House, Fox News. It’s a display of desperation that only serves to make him appear more guilty and afraid of the coming consequences of his criminal acts.

Leading off Trump’s parade of polemics is a tweet that reinforces Trump’s long-held aversion to free speech and the First Amendment of the Constitution. We are all familiar with Trump’s denouncement of the press in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people,” and his projectile vomiting of invectives at journalists who have the audacity to report what he actually does and says. And now we have Trump literally threatening to legally censor the media for doing its job:

Trump goes on offense against investigations after tough week | TheHill

President Trump on Sunday went on offense after a week that saw potential legal woes piling up against him.

The special counsel’s investigation and the FBI’s handling of cases concerning him were on the president’s mind, as well as “Saturday Night Live” and several other issues, as Trump spent a rainy morning in Washington, D.C., sending a string of tweets.

Trump began the morning by raising the prospect of challenging the satirical NBC show in court, then revived his attacks on the FBI by blaming the bureau for causing his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to speak out against him.

The president went on to address the case of a Green Beret charged with murder, and capped off his morning by defending the policy of separating children from their families at the border.

The president had no public events scheduled for Sunday. The White House indicated shortly before 10 a.m. that there would be no added events, according to a pool report.

Trump has in the past filled similarly blank itineraries by lashing out on Twitter, but Sunday’s six-tweet outburst came at the conclusion of a particularly volatile week for the president.

In the past seven days, Trump had multiple candidates withdraw from consideration to be his chief of staff; publicly fought with Democrats about border security funding and vowed to own a government shutdown; watched his longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, receive a three-year prison sentence in part for crimes he said he committed at Trump’s direction; and the president’s inauguration committee reportedly became the subject of a criminal investigation.

Trump Jr. goes on Twitter to cry about being an oppressed man—and gets destroyed : Daily Kos

Donald Trump Jr. is probably spending most of his time somewhat unaware that his dad is fully expecting him to be the fall guy for all of the criminal campaign shenanigans special counsel Robert Mueller is weaving together. Junior knows he’s in trouble, but like most rich kids born with a crippling case of affluenza, he assumes daddy will bail him out at some point. And while daddy might bail Junior out, I will guarantee you this: if Bob Mueller told President Trump that sending Junior to jail for 100 lifetimes would save the elder Trump from jail, you can bet Junior would never see the light of day. Anywho! Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand tweeted this positive thought about the future of our country.

Melania Trump Speaks Out After Zara Jacket Scandal | InStyle.com

A day after Melania Trump’s tone deaf fashion choice of a military jacket with the phrase, “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?,” emblazoned on the back, FLOTUS is speaking out about her visit to a detention center holding immigrant children separated from their families in Texas.

On Friday, Trump took to Twitter with a video from her travels to the shelter, shaking hands with the young migrants and admiring their artwork.

“Visiting w children at the shelter in #Texas yesterday was very touching. Despite the difficult circumstances children were in good spirits & very kind. It’s my sincere hope Congress will be able to reach across the aisle & find a solution!” she captioned the short clip.

Trump tells Republicans to ‘stop wasting their time’ on immigration | TheHill

President Trump on Friday told Republican lawmakers to “stop wasting their time” on immigration legislation, even as the House grapples to reach a compromise.

“Republicans should stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November,” the president

wrote on Twitter. “Dems are just playing games, have no intention of doing anything to solves this decades old problem. We can pass great legislation after the Red Wave!”

The tweet comes while Republicans in Congress are scrambling to address immigration issues, reportedly with the president’s support. But Trump has been fuming over the lack of action. The House rejected a hardline immigration bill Thursday and Republican leaders delayed the vote on a separate, more moderate bill to next week.

“Elect more Republicans in November and we will pass the finest, fairest and most comprehensive Immigration Bills anywhere in the world,” Trump said Friday.

Toronto and Tennessee: Two white suspects, no Trump tweets : Salon

Continuing a pattern that traces back to the early days of his 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump himself has yet to openly acknowledge a series of attacks in which the perpetrators were white.

“The United States stands with the Canadian people in the aftermath of today’s tragic event in Toronto, where a van drove into a crowd of people killing several and injuring many more,” the White House’s Office of the Press Secretary said in a statement about an incident where a 25-year-old man ran pedestrians over in a van on Monday. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those affected, and we wish a full recovery to those injured.  The United States Government pledges to provide any support Canada may need.”

During a press briefing earlier Monday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed the hero of the Waffle House shooting — a man named James Shaw Jr., who wrestled the gun away from the shooter — but focused on other matters.

Former FBI director James Comey sheds ‘secret’ Twitter alias, slides into Trump’s stomping grounds : Daily Kos

There’s a new Twitter sheriff in town

In March 2017, Ashley Feinberg of Gizmodo did some sleuthing and figured out former FBI director James Comey had been using a secret alias on Twitter. Comey was tweeting under the name @ReinholdNiebuhr and eventually confirmed Feinberg’s detective work, even jokingly offering her a job.

Today, James Comey shed the alias account and unveiled a new Twitter feed, one that is quickly gaining new followers and is likely to give @realDonaldTrump some heartburn.

Trump is not likely to greet him like the did the first time the two met at the White House.

And the fact Comey felt the need to open a more public, verified account could be telling. As in, he has a story to tell and he is getting closer to being able to talk about it publicly.

Of course, longtime Twitter users began welcoming and hazing the newest verified account:

Of course, many users gave Comey a less than hospitable welcome, but you’ll have to get in the Twitter mud yourself to read those responses.
