Chris Packham outraged as police ram escaped cow on the street in Staines | Evening Standard

This is a living creature with every right to life but it was in the wrong environment and for its own safety and the safety of others the cow was in need of some forms of restraint.

The point in question was the means of this restraint as by using a moving vehicle in the way the police did could have caused serious injury to the calf and while the injuries caused my appear to be minor are they. The vet will ascertain if there are any unseen injuries but there will be degrees of mental distress which won’t be ascertained.

Was it possible to tranquilise the calf, but a vet or another would be required to do this as tranquiisation done incorrectly can be fatal in some instances.

Rightly the police have put themselves forward for investigation and if they didn’t  they would have been forced to do so.

But will the investigation be as full as it should be or just a ‘whitewash’ to save the face and reputation of the police force, who knows.

Time will tell or will it.
