The Royal Family will always be an emotive issue with many in the UK.
There will always be those who will support the Monarchy no matter what they do and in reverse those who will never support the Monarchy.
The middle ground is where changes will occur from time to time and serious health issues will certainly, with some of the population, increase support for a period. Cancer will be one of those health issues and unfortunately, currently, both King Charles III and Katherine, Princess of Wales are both diagnosed with some form of cancer.
The treatments are lengthy and very invasive and most of the UK population will be supportive, if only for a while. This is especially so with the now slimmer down Monarchy, but some will wish it to be slimmer down further.
The late Queen, Queen Elizabeth II was admired by many for her devotion and her longevity. But many will not wish a somewhat similar longevity with Charles even if it was possible.
William is more popular because of his somewhat youthfulness, and hardly anyone would wish him a long period before he himself becomes king, even though not wishing Charles an early demise.
While Charles has made some needed changes there are many more required, as in many respects it is still dated, which many put down to tradition, but even traditions can be updated in degrees. It is down to when and how, Europe in many ways has already done this, some forced and others not.
Times change and so does Monarchy to survive for if not it won’t survive.
I am not a Republican, but then not a full Monarchist either. For the last I wish to have is a President of the UK as a Prime Minister is bad enough.
